Last night at the Board of Supervisors meeting, Lower Salford Township recognized Chief Tom Medwid on his retirement after 27 years of dedicated service to the Township and swore in Chief Cory Moyer as the Township's new Chief of Police.

Chief Medwid’s career began in Springfield Township where he served as a Patrol Officer from 1981 to1985. From 1985 to 1999, Chief Medwid served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, and Patrol Sergeant for Whitpain Township until he was hired as the Chief of Lower Salford Township in 1999.

Throughout his career, Chief Medwid exemplified professionalism, commitment, and leadership, leaving a lasting impact on our department and the community he proudly served. We thank him for his years of service and wish him health, happiness, and many wonderful adventures in retirement.

We are also proud to congratulate our new Chief of Police, Cory Moyer. Chief Moyer has been a valued member of the Lower Salford Township Police Department since 1996. His dedication and leadership have been evident throughout his career, earning promotions to Corporal in 2001, Sergeant in 2011, Deputy Chief in 2025, and now as the 4th Chief of Police for Lower Salford Township.
